Our Nursery

Located in the heart of Northcote our independent nursery school offers personalised care and education provided by dedicated early years professionals.

We offer full and part-time care for children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years, and are open from 7:30am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, all year round, except for bank holidays and in between Christmas and new year.

Our aim is to create a stimulating and engaging place just for children. We call it the “Children’s House” or “Casa Dei Bambini” where children are nurtured, loved, challenged and can find their wings to flourish. The nursery has been skillfully designed to foster children’s natural curiosity and love of learning.

Our Facilities

The nursery boasts unique state-of-the-art facilities, such as a sensory room, where children can investigate cause and effect and a water room where there are endless opportunities to completely immerse themselves, enabling them to explore mathematical concepts, such as weight capacity and volume.

The classrooms are designed to be a peaceful and inviting space, filled with carefully selected materials that are specifically designed to engage children’s senses.

Furthermore, children benefit from spending time outdoors every day in our awe-inspiring garden, building their physical strength and mastering their fundamental movement skills.

Children also enjoy regular visits around the local area to appreciate the natural world. This helps children to understand their community and develop a sense of belonging.

Extra-curricular activities to support children’s development are also provided.

Our team

Our highly qualified head teacher holds Early Years Teacher Status and has a wealth of experience. She is supported by a knowledgeable and passionate staff team.

All staff have pediatric first aid qualifications and are dedicated and committed to the delivery of a first-class Montessori and Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

All teachers are actively encouraged to further their knowledge and understanding by undertaking regular training.

The teachers are trained in pediatric first aid and highly skilled at observing and supporting each child’s unique learning style and developmental needs.

Our Reviews

Food and nutrition

We offer a delicious and nutritious, and balanced diet for our children.

Food is freshly cooked by our chef on site, and we cater for all dietary requirements.

Children develop essential life skills at Northcote Montessori and help with the preparation of meals. Through cooking children obtain an understanding of basic scientific principles. For example, when they bake bread children observe the chemical reaction, as they watch how heat makes the mixture change and rise.

Furthermore, they grow a range of fruit and vegetables in the garden to give children an understanding of where food comes from. Staff and children harvest fruit and vegetables together and enjoy them at snack time.
